The Broadcast Awards is the industry’s leading television awards. It is the most hotly anticipated event in the television industry calendar, celebrating the very best in British programming and channels. The awards recognise and reward the UK’s most ground-breaking content, creators and channels.

The judging process: The awards are judged by a panel of more than 100 industry experts, handpicked by the Broadcast team. The judges are split into groups, and each allocated a category. Each judging panel is chaired by a member of the Broadcast editorial team and after debating the merits of each contender, a secret ballot takes place to determine the winner.

The European Broadcasting Union is the world’s leading alliance of public service media organisations whose countries are within the European Broadcasting Area (EBA) or who are members of the Council of Europe. As of 2022, it is made up of 113 member organizations from 56 countries, and 31 associate members from a further 20 countries. It was established on 12 February 1950 and has its administrative headquarters in Geneva and technical office in Brussels.

The National Television Awards (often shortened to NTAs) is a British television awards ceremony broadcast by the ITV network and initiated in 1995. The National Television Awards are the most prominent ceremony for which the results are voted on by the general public, and are often branded as 'television's biggest night of the year

The Voting process: There are two voting stages: a longlist of nominees featuring the most watched programmes and their stars from each channel, based on BARB (the Broadcasters Audience Research Board), is published in September, and the subsequent shortlist of the leading contenders in each category is published in January. The public vote in a nationwide poll via post, telephone and online with the process verified by PromoVeritas, the independent adjudicators. The results are widely reported in the British media with worldwide media coverage of some categories.

The Rose d’Or began in 1961, when it was created by Swiss Television in the lakeside city of Montreux and has been a flagship event for the European Broadcasting Union and the international TV industry ever since. In 2019 the EBU partnered with international publishing company and digital channels business C21Media to take over the organisation of the Rose d’Or Awards.

It is the oldest television society in the world. It currently has fourteen regional and national centres in the UK. The group was formed as the Television Society on 7 September 1927, a time when television was still in its experimental stage. The society was granted its Royal title in 1966 and The Prince of Wales became patron of the Society in November 1997.

The Television and Radio Industries Club (widely known as TRIC) is a British institution chartered in 1931 to promote mutual understanding and goodwill among those in broadcast technology and related industries, across TV, Radio and online platforms. The Club holds an annual awards ceremony each March honouring achievement in television and radio.

Membership is drawn from the communication, entertainment, manufacturing, warranty insurance and service sectors from programme makers and broadcasters to radio producers and makers.
